Description: ADEPT Nottingham Ltd operates two separate 12 step abstinence based programmes, for substance misuse. Services provided include one to one counselling, drug therapy and workshops in Nottingham Mansfield, Worksop and Eastwood.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Description: AA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strength and hope with each other, that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and to help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Criteria: The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking alcohol.

BAC-IN

Description: The BAC-IN project provides culturally sensitive and culturally appropriate services to individuals and families from African/Caribbean, South Asian and Dual Heritage backgrounds to be able to address and treat substance misuse and related psychological issues. Description: Chill Out Sound Support (COSS) provides relevant information and advice about mild to problematic recreational drug use with the aim of eliminating or minimising the risks and damage associated with it. The service is free and confidential.

Community Alcohol Service   (CAS)

Description: 30 Day abstinence based day care program, providing addiction therapy for those who are alcohol dependant. The daily program consists of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and gives an introduction to the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Criteria: Clients should have a genuine desire for abstinence. They should live in the City or County of Nottinghamshire. All clients will need to be alcohol free on admission, therefore, those who are still drinking will have to seek assistance regarding a detox.

Minimum age: 18yrs

Referral Procedure Clients can self refer by phoning the main telephone number. Assessment usually takes place in the mornings. Clients do not have to be alcohol free to attend the assessment. We also take referrals from other agencies.

Compass Adult Drug Services

Description: The service provides a needle exchange service (including Saturdays), auricular acupuncture, outreach services in various locations, relapse prevention work, women only groups and support, advice and information on issues related to drug use.

Criteria: The adult service is for individuals 18 years and over who have problems or concerns about their own or another's drug use.

Compass Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Services

Description: The Compass Young People's Service is for young people under 19 who have concerns about their own or another's drug or alcohol use. The service helps young people address problematic substance use, and move towards safer and healthier lifestyles. Support is also available to their parents, carers and the professionals who work with them.

Double Impact

Description: Double Impact aim to provide a good service for people who have experienced problematic drug and alcohol use and who are now wishing to abstain. They provide support on personal development, housing, training, education and employment. They also provide a mentoring scheme and a structured aftercare programme, volunteer work opportunities, a womens group, a range of complementary therapies and even have their own football team.

Criteria: Stabilised/recovering drug and alcohol users aged 18 and above who are seeking aftercare support in accessing housing, further education, training, entering employment or voluntary work.

John Storer Clinic

Description: The out-patient community base offers a comprehensive treatment service for clients who have drug related problems. The clinic offers a wide range of tratment options providing individualised based care and will allocate a key worker to work toward mutually agreed treatment goals. A range of prescribing options are offered, including detoxification, stabilisation and harm minimisation based prescribing. Other interventions include:

Description: 5 day a week programme for clients in early recovery. Family support if appropriate. Saturday morning support group for clients - family members only. Disabled access. 12 step study group

Oxford Corner

Description: Offering individual treatment for people with alcohol problems. Fast track assessments offered in partnership with the Hospital Alcohol and Drugs Liaison Team, also facilitating early discharge from general medical wards (often within 24 hours). Ensuring high quality care is transferred directly to the team, to continue detoxification incorporating close monitoring of any existing health problems and relapse prevention. Each service user has a programme of care designed to meet their individual needs, co-ordinated by their key worker. Group therapy, abstinence and controlled drinking programmes run along side other therapy groups, such as anxiety management and complementary therapies.

Criteria: Age 18 and over. History of excessive alcohol misuse with physical/mental health related difficulties. Safe guarding issues, offending behaviour including perpetrators and victims of domestic violence, for those based within the Nottinghamshire area.

Positive Futures

Description: Positive Futures is a national sports based social inclusion programme managed within the Home office Drugs Strategy Directorate. By engaging marginalised young people in sport and other activities. Positive Futures aims to build relationships between responsible adults and young people, based on mutual trust and respect, in order to create new opportunities for alternative lifestyles. Prostitute Outreach Workers POW

Description: POW! provides a free, comprehensive, confidential, full-time drop-in and an outreach service to those involved in, at risk of becoming involved in or wishing to exit prostitution and drug misuse. They aim to ensure appropriate services are accessible to the prostitute community and provide information, support, advocacy, referrals to other agencies, basic counselling and advice on all matters relating to: personal safety whilst working as a prostitute, sexual health, reducing or ceasing drug use, social support, family planning, lifestyle changes, prevention and exiting from prostitution.

Criteria: Females/males involved or who may have an involvement in prostitution/drug misuse. Families/friends of those involved in prostitution/drug misuse. Services available to the wider community. POW is a peer education project.

STARS Project

The Health Shop

Description: Substance use – needle exchange, safer injecting advice, harm reduction, overdose information, HIV and Hep C testing including hep A + B vaccination, Auricular Acupuncture, one to one support on any aspect of substance use. They also run a service for steroid users.
Sexual health- Pregnancy tests, HIV same day testing, advice on any aspect of sexual health, also run condom distribution.
Gay workers available for support around sexuality and safer sex.

Criteria: Any person wishing to discuss any aspect of sexual health and substance use.

The Point - Compass
