Central Women’s Aid

Description: Staff offer advice and information on housing issues, welfare rights, courts, solicitors and access to education for children. Part time children's play worker.

Criteria: Women with or without children escaping domestic violence.

Will not accept women with drug or alcohol problems which mean they are unable to live in communal accommodation.

Cutting Back

Description: Cutting Back is a group of women (aged 18+) who self harm. Self harm is seen as a coping mechanism, not attention seeking. The group is friendly, mutually supportive and non-judgemental.

Criteria: For women who self harm

East Nottingham Women’s Aid

Description: Support includes advice on benefits, schooling, training and contact orders, action plans. Evening and some weekend support. Outreach and resettlement worker, part time child support worker, provides advice, support and play activities for children.

Criteria: Women with or without children escaping domestic violence.

Will not accept women living close to the refuge, or women with drug and alcohol or other problems. No boys over 16 allowed.

Minimum age: 16

Midlands Women’s Aid

Description: Staff offer advice and support on housing, financial matters, education, health and legal problems. Will liase with schools and social services and housing authorities.

Child care worker and plpaygroup 4 days a week. Also have an outreach worker and a children's outreach worker.

Weekly sessions with health visitor. School nurse visits regularly.

Criteria: Women with children escaping domestic violence. Women without children also considered but women with children are the priority.
Will not accept women with drug, alcohol or other problems likely to cause disturbance to other families. Women with convictions for violence, arson or theft.

Description: The Rape Crisis Centre can offer a confidential telephone line to any female and provide face-to-face counselling on housing, pregnancy, police, medical and courts as well as emotional support.Helpline Opening Times:

Prostitute Outreach Workers POW

Description: POW! provides a free, comprehensive, confidential, full-time drop-in and an outreach service to those involved in, at risk of becoming involved in or wishing to exit prostitution and drug misuse. They aim to ensure appropriate services are accessible to the prostitute community and provide information, support, advocacy, referrals to other agencies, basic counselling and advice on all matters relating to: personal safety whilst working as a prostitute, sexual health, reducing or ceasing drug use, social support, family planning, lifestyle changes, prevention and exiting from prostitution.

Criteria: Females/males involved or who may have an involvement in prostitution/drug misuse. Families/friends of those involved in prostitution/drug misuse. Services available to the wider community. POW is a peer education project.

Roshni - Nottingham Asian Women’s Aid

Description: Staff provide advice and support with making applications and completing forms, benefits claims, finding training courses, employment and life skills training. Advice and support offered in Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and Gujarati.
Health visitor allocated to provide care for children at the refuge.

Criteria: Asian women with or without children escaping domestic violence.

Will not accept women living close to the refuge. Women with drug or alcohol or other problems which mean they are unable to live in communal accommodation. Women with no recourse to public funds.

Description: We provide floating support for women who live within Nottingham City, and have or are experiencing domestic abuse. Our aim is to provide housing and tenancy related support, and we will signpost on any joint work with other agencies if appropriate.
We provide support with benefits, resettlement, tenancy sustainment, legal advice and safety planning.

Women’s Aid Advice Centre

Description: Women's Aid provide a one-stop-shop for women experiencing or escaping domestic violence. They provide confidential advice and support access to safe and secure emergency accommodation. Provide information on housing, children, the police, solicitors and immigration and most importantly, a listening ear. They also offer a drop in service from 10am to 4pm Mon - Fri and a 24 hour helpline.

Women’s Aid Advice Centre - Floating Support

Description: Provides a floating support service for women in Gedling and Nottingham with current or previous experience of domestic abuse. The service is open to travellers and sex workers in Nottingham City, and is available to women with or without children. The centre can help women wanting to move away from domestic abuse, and also runs a drop-in service.

Criteria: Women who have experienced domestic abuse and who have additional issues with mental health, drugs or alcohol. Can provide support to women with or without children.
