Access House

Description: Keywork system, weekly meetings. Staff provide emotional and practical support and advice on budgeting, welfare benefits, health, sexual health, training, education and personal matters.
Midwife and health worker make regular visits.

Criteria: Women with or without children, who are at risk, vulnerable or in danger of becoming homeless.

Will not accept those with a history of arson, serious violence or sex offences.

Central Women’s Aid

Description: Staff offer advice and information on housing issues, welfare rights, courts, solicitors and access to education for children. Part time children's play worker.

Criteria: Women with or without children escaping domestic violence.

Will not accept women with drug or alcohol problems which mean they are unable to live in communal accommodation.

Minimum age: 16

East Nottingham Women’s Aid

Description: Support includes advice on benefits, schooling, training and contact orders, action plans. Evening and some weekend support. Outreach and resettlement worker, part time child support worker, provides advice, support and play activities for children.

Criteria: Women with or without children escaping domestic violence.

Will not accept women living close to the refuge, or women with drug and alcohol or other problems. No boys over 16 allowed.

Emergency Accommodation for Women

Description: Staff provide help and advice on benefits, careers and emotional support and referrals to other specialist agencies.

Criteria: Young single homeless women aged 16-25, including those who are not more than 6 months pregnant. Must have a local connection to Nottingham city.

Will not accept women with very high support needs which cannot be met by the project, or drug use that will place others at risk.

Framework HA - Aidan House

Description: Keywork system, weekly meetings. Support around benefits, budgeting, health, independent living skills, parenting skills, relationship and emotional issues, accessing education, training and employment.
Weekly visits from health worker and midwife.

Criteria: Single homeless women who are pregnant or who have children. Will accept women aged 15 if referred by Social Services.

Will not accept those who have been convicted of arson or present a serious risk of violent or abusive behaviour. Boys over the age of 12. Schedule One offenders.

Criteria: Young single homeless women aged 16-25 with low to medium support needs.

Will not accept people with drug issues they are unwilling to address. People with a history of arson or extreme violence.

Framework HA - Noelle House

Description: Support around benefits, budgeting, health, independent living skills, health, accessing education, training and employment.
Also organise social and leisure activities for residents.

Criteria: Single homeless women. Priority given to black women, lesbians, women with HIV, and women escaping domestic violence. Once space for women with cats or dogs.

Will not accept women with a history of arson or chaotic behaviour. Women assessed as being at risk to staff or other residents.

Imaani Project

Description: Compulsory key work system, weekly meetings. Fortnightly house meetings. Key worker system, weekly meetings. Staff provide advice and information on education, training, careers and welfare rights. Translation and interpreting services, and family mediation if appropriate. Residents must participate in resettlement programme.

Criteria: Young black (African/Caribbean, Asian and Mixed Parentage) single homeless women aged 16-30, including those who are in the early stages of pregnancy. 25% of places are for 16-17 year olds.

Will not accept women with a history of sexual offences or arson. Anyone currently taking drugs and not accepting help.

Life House

Description: Compulsory support plans agreed between support worker, resident and other agencies. Staff offer care and support during pregnancy and after birth, including advice and support with budgeting, benefits, cooking and independent living skills. Encourage residents to attend ante and post natal sessions.

Regular visits by health visitor, community health workers, midwife and Sure Start support team.

Criteria: Single homeless women with low to medium support needs who are pregnant or who have children aged under 5 years. Priority given to those nearing expected delivery time.

Will not accept women with current substance misuse problems, unless they are actively participating with a support plan.

Mayholme Mother and Baby Unit

Description: Staff offer support from practical to emotional issues, focusing on the preparation for independent living. This includes budgeting, cooking, benefits, child care and pregnancy. Health visitors and midwives visit the project on a regular basis.

Criteria: Young women, aged 16-25 who are pregnant or have a child under 2, and who are homeless or vulnerable. May accept a couple in some circumstances. Applicants must have a local connection immediately prior to application.

Midlands Women’s Aid

Description: Staff offer advice and support on housing, financial matters, education, health and legal problems. Will liase with schools and social services and housing authorities.

Child care worker and plpaygroup 4 days a week. Also have an outreach worker and a children's outreach worker.

Weekly sessions with health visitor. School nurse visits regularly.

Criteria: Women with children escaping domestic violence. Women without children also considered but women with children are the priority.
Will not accept women with drug, alcohol or other problems likely to cause disturbance to other families. Women with convictions for violence, arson or theft.

Description: Staff provide advice and support with making applications and completing forms, benefits claims, finding training courses, employment and life skills training. Advice and support offered in Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and Gujarati.
Health visitor allocated to provide care for children at the refuge.

Criteria: Asian women with or without children escaping domestic violence.

Will not accept women living close to the refuge. Women with drug or alcohol or other problems which mean they are unable to live in communal accommodation. Women with no recourse to public funds.

Criteria: Young homeless women aged 16 -25 who are pregnant or have a child. The project is primarily for young women from black minority ethnic groups, but not exclusively.

Will not accept arsonists and women with a history of violence.
