This section is for anyone who wants a service that specifically offers support surrounding sexuality.

Breakout

Description: Social group for gay and bisexual men. Fun events, outings and speakers. The group meets every Tuesday evening at The Health Shop. Doors open at 7.30pm for tea and coffee, the main session beginning at 8pm.

Criteria: Men who sleep with men.

Framework HA - Noelle House

Description: Support around benefits, budgeting, health, independent living skills, health, accessing education, training and employment.
Also organise social and leisure activities for residents.

Criteria: Single homeless women. Priority given to black women, lesbians, women with HIV, and women escaping domestic violence. Once space for women with cats or dogs.

Minimum age: 16

Healthy Gay Nottingham (Formerly the Gai Project)

Description: Healthy Gay Nottingham works to promote the health and well being of gay and bisexual men. You are able to talk to the project about HIV, safer sex and sexual health. You can pick up condoms and lube, get vaccinated against Hep B or be tested for HIV or syphilis. You can talk to the project about anything from coming out to relationships, safer cruising, internet use and reporting homophobic violence.

Criteria: Men who sleep with men.

Homophobic Incident Line

Description: A free phone line for reporting homophobic incidents to the Nottinghamshire Police Homophobic Incident Team. If the incident is urgent, please use 999. Trained officers are aware of confidentiality and sensitivity.

Criteria: Anyone who has experienced homophobia.

Nottingham Counselling Service

Description: Nottingham Counselling Service provides counselling for men and women over the age of 18 residing, working or studying in the Nottinghamshire area. They provide 1-1 counselling in a safe environment by qualified and accredited counsellors. All counsellors work confidentially, a commitment to equality and diversity and are non-judgemental.
Also provide group support for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Trained counsellors are also aware of gender and sexuality issues.

Criteria: Men and women over the age of 18, residing, working or studying in the Nottinghamshire area.

Nottingham Rape Crisis Centre

Description: The Rape Crisis Centre can offer a confidential telephone line to any female and provide face-to-face counselling on housing, pregnancy, police, medical and courts as well as emotional support.Helpline Opening Times:

Oxford Corner

Description: Offering individual treatment for people with alcohol problems. Fast track assessments offered in partnership with the Hospital Alcohol and Drugs Liaison Team, also facilitating early discharge from general medical wards (often within 24 hours). Ensuring high quality care is transferred directly to the team, to continue detoxification incorporating close monitoring of any existing health problems and relapse prevention. Each service user has a programme of care designed to meet their individual needs, co-ordinated by their key worker. Group therapy, abstinence and controlled drinking programmes run along side other therapy groups, such as anxiety management and complementary therapies.

Criteria: Age 18 and over. History of excessive alcohol misuse with physical/mental health related difficulties. Safe guarding issues, offending behaviour including perpetrators and victims of domestic violence, for those based within the Nottinghamshire area.

Minimum age: 18

Referral Procedure Referrals from GP, Hospital, Probation, other statutory and non statutory agencies and self.

Description: Counselling for couples where there is a current relationship breakdown. Also for individuals trying to cope with separation and/or divorce. Also welcome enquiries from those in same sex relationships.

SHINE

Description: We provide floating support for women who live within Nottingham City, and have or are experiencing domestic abuse. Our aim is to provide housing and tenancy related support, and we will signpost on any joint work with other agencies if appropriate.
We provide support with benefits, resettlement, tenancy sustainment, legal advice and safety planning.

Criteria: For women who have, or are experiencing domestic abuse, and live within the Nottingham City area.

The Health Shop

Description: Substance use – needle exchange, safer injecting advice, harm reduction, overdose information, HIV and Hep C testing including hep A + B vaccination, Auricular Acupuncture, one to one support on any aspect of substance use. They also run a service for steroid users.
Sexual health- Pregnancy tests, HIV same day testing, advice on any aspect of sexual health, also run condom distribution.
Gay workers available for support around sexuality and safer sex.

Criteria: Any person wishing to discuss any aspect of sexual health and substance use.

Tipping the Velvet

Description: The safe space for women who have sex with women. Join workers from The Health Shop, for a coffee and a chat about issues that may affect you around sexual health, drug use, domestic and sexual violence. Sessions are on a one-to-one basis or group setting as required. The service is free, confidential and open to women of all ages.
The group meets on the first Monday of every month at The Health Shop from 5.30pm - 8pm.

Trans-Action

Description: Transgender Action Group provide information on social events in the East Midlands and a conduit to the police, the local authority and the health service (NHS and Private) if you experience problems due to being transgender.

Criteria: Anyone identifying themselves as transgender.
