Description: This service allows individuals currently experiencing a level of distress and turmoil in their lives to express themselves through art, aiming to help people improve their confidence and self esteem. Group members are provided with materials and tuition.

Criteria: Anyone experiencing some level of ill mental health.

Description: Chill Out Sound Support (COSS) provides relevant information and advice about mild to problematic recreational drug use with the aim of eliminating or minimising the risks and damage associated with it. The service is free and confidential.

Criteria: Anyone.

Description: Cutting Back is a group of women (aged 18+) who self harm. Self harm is seen as a coping mechanism, not attention seeking. The group is friendly, mutually supportive and non-judgemental.

Criteria: For women who self harm

Description: The out-patient community base offers a comprehensive treatment service for clients who have drug related problems. The clinic offers a wide range of tratment options providing individualised based care and will allocate a key worker to work toward mutually agreed treatment goals. A range of prescribing options are offered, including detoxification, stabilisation and harm minimisation based prescribing. Other interventions include:

Description: The MHST aims to promote better mental health amongst homeless people in Nottingham. The team view mental health in its broadest sense and recognises the impact that homelessness has on an individual's self-esteem, motivation and coping skills.

Criteria: Men and women aged 16-65 who use emergency accommodation, day centres, live in supported hostels or sleep rough.

Minimum age: 16

Description: Information service for users of mental health services, carers, professionals and the public. Information on types of mental distress, treatments, alternative therapies, mental health law, advocacy, where to get help, local Mind groups. Access to legal advice. Fact sheets and publications.

Description: Helpline providing healthcare advice and information for the public. Callers can speak directly to experienced nurses who answer worries or questions on health care. Assists callers in making the right healthcare choice. Can give information on local doctors, pharmacies, dentists and support groups.

Description: Nottingham Counselling Service provides counselling for men and women over the age of 18 residing, working or studying in the Nottinghamshire area. They provide 1-1 counselling in a safe environment by qualified and accredited counsellors. All counsellors work confidentially, a commitment to equality and diversity and are non-judgemental.
Also provide group support for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Trained counsellors are also aware of gender and sexuality issues.

Criteria: Men and women over the age of 18, residing, working or studying in the Nottinghamshire area.

Referral Procedure Self or agency referral.

Description: Offering individual treatment for people with alcohol problems. Fast track assessments offered in partnership with the Hospital Alcohol and Drugs Liaison Team, also facilitating early discharge from general medical wards (often within 24 hours). Ensuring high quality care is transferred directly to the team, to continue detoxification incorporating close monitoring of any existing health problems and relapse prevention. Each service user has a programme of care designed to meet their individual needs, co-ordinated by their key worker. Group therapy, abstinence and controlled drinking programmes run along side other therapy groups, such as anxiety management and complementary therapies.

Criteria: Age 18 and over. History of excessive alcohol misuse with physical/mental health related difficulties. Safe guarding issues, offending behaviour including perpetrators and victims of domestic violence, for those based within the Nottinghamshire area.

Minimum age: 18

Description: If you have an accident or an extremely urgent medical problem you can present to A&E 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have been feeling suicidal and wish to harm yourself or others, then you can also present to A&E for an emergency mental health assessment.

Description: Counselling for couples where there is a current relationship breakdown. Also for individuals trying to cope with separation and/or divorce. Also welcome enquiries from those in same sex relationships.

A small fee is sometimes charged.

Description: Helpline offering emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. Support also offered by email and letter (P.O. Box 90 90, Stirling FK8 2SA). Face to face meetings at local offices by arrangement.

Description: Free counselling for young people aged between 13-25. Counselling can range from distress and self harm, through to coping with a crisis. All counselling is free, confidential and non-judgemental.

Description: Substance use – needle exchange, safer injecting advice, harm reduction, overdose information, HIV and Hep C testing including hep A + B vaccination, Auricular Acupuncture, one to one support on any aspect of substance use. They also run a service for steroid users.
Sexual health- Pregnancy tests, HIV same day testing, advice on any aspect of sexual health, also run condom distribution.
Gay workers available for support around sexuality and safer sex.

Criteria: Any person wishing to discuss any aspect of sexual health and substance use.
