This section covers agencies that are not Government Commissioned. They offer an alternative form of help and support within the Nottinghamshire area.

Betel of Britain - Manna Farm

Description: Initial two week detox period with resident supported by a 'responsible' member of the community. After detox, residents become part of a 'work team' and undertake household tasks and furniture restoration. When supervision is no longer required, residents provide support to another member of the community.

Criteria: Single people with a drug or alcohol addiction. Residents using illegal substances, alcohol or prescribed drugs for psychological support will not be permitted to gradually reduce their intake as a form of withdrawal.

Will not accept people with a history of violence, arson or sexual convictions. People unable to cope with the level of support offered by the project.

Minimum age: 17

Referral Procedure Self or agency referral.

Christians Against Poverty

Description: Remar is a non-government Christian charity that offers help and rehabilitation from those suffering from drugs/alcohol problems, and young offenders. We have several properties, and can accommodate men, women and families.

We also have trained help for those with financial difficulties.

We have a drop-in, free dinner facility on Mondays 6.30pm - 8.30pm Access at the side door of the building

Description: Parent support for all mums, dads and carers of children. 24 hour telephone helpline that is confidential and free 0808 800 2222
Web services including live chat and email support

Local groups and workshops available in the City of Nottingham

Criteria: Available to all parents and carers who need support with parenting

Minimum age: Available to all parents and carers

Referral Procedure No referral needed - Universal provision of helpline and web.
Professionals can refer parents to extended telephone support - see the website for details
